Its mission: find and disrupt hostile foreign government activities within the U.S. The first major assignment for the fledging group came on 22 November 1963, with orders to determine if a foreign government played any role in the assassination of President Kennedy. Division Chief David Montoya assigned the daunting task to agents Mike Stafford and Félix Molina.
They targeted three possibilities: RUSSIA-Nikita Khrushchev leader of the Soviet Union was humiliated during the Cuban missile crisis in 1962; CUBA-Fidel Castro also lost face in that adventure and declared the U.S. his number one enemy; and LA COSA NOSTRA-The Kennedy brothers had made deadly enemies of the Mafia in their attempt to eradicate the New York families. All three wanted revenge and may have joined forces to reach that objective. Bodies accumulate as the investigation closes in on the key suspect.
