When Michael Taylor shared a kiss with Lorenzo Mancuso in his brother’s nightclub, he had no idea he was kissing a gangster, or that his brother Billy had hatched a plan to pimp him out to Lorenzo in order to pay off the crippling debt he owed to the Mancuso family.
After Michael’s brother, Billy, defaults on a loan payment, the gangster goes to the nightclub to teach him a lesson, but instead finds Michael, battered and bleeding, and drunk out of his mind. Unwilling to leave him behind, and acting completely out of character, Lorenzo takes Michael home with him in the hope that he can at least provide some information about his brother.
The next day, Michael wakes up and discovers the tall, dark stranger's identity, and is terrified of what has happened to Billy and what will now be expected of him. As his stay at the gangster's home drags on, the undeniable chemistry between the two men begins to mount, but the relationship stakes have changed, and Michael is not willing to be used to pay off his brother’s debt.
Lorenzo’s control issues go into over drive and he fights his attraction to Michael, even though Michael’s vulnerability has him acting in ways that make him question his sanity. Michael mistrusts Lorenzo on every level and wants to leave, despite the fact that Lorenzo is the only person who has shown him any compassion lately. Michael finds himself questioning everything that has happened to him and after a botched attempt at seduction leads to Lorenzo telling him that he is free to leave, Michael finds he suddenly doesn’t want to go.
If their relationship is to stand a chance, the two men have to learn to do something that doesn’t come naturally to either of them. They have to learn to trust each other. If they can both drop their guards enough to allow the other one in, they can both feel something they haven’t felt before. They can finally feel safe.
