La mère reçoit chaleureusement le cinéaste un dimanche pour lui présenter la cadette, en vue d’une séance de photographies. La cadette va poser, tandis que la mère continue de clamer qu’elle-même est en quête de rôles… San Fernando Valley, impressions a été édité pour la première fois en juin 2010, le cinéaste étant assigné à résidence. La présente édition est augmentée d’une préface : La Fille substitut.
California, february and march 1977 : an actress has two daughters. The elder daughter's boyfriend is a friend of Roman Polanski. The mother is happy to invite the French-Polish movie director at home on a Sunday, and she introduce him her younger daughter, in order to make several photos sessions. So the younger daughter will be the model, while the mother keeps saying she is herself looking for a job... "San Fernando Valley, impressions" has been first published in june 2010, while Roman Polanski was still under house arrest in Switzerland. This second edition is increased with a preface : "La Fille Substitut". (French edition)
