    Shadows: a love story

    Por TASNEEM, NIRANJAN

    Sobre

Shadows is a love story with a difference. The lovers fall in love at first sight but they reserve their opinion for the life to come. They want to understand each other, to fathom the depth of their love for each other and to ensure dignified attitude for each other. There is dilemma in the boy's mind whether it is obligatory to marry the girl one loves. But for the girl, love is her whole existence. They are separated for some years. At last, they meet in a train when the girl is with her husband and a two-three years old child. During the night they recall the days, in a sort of fantasy, when they loved each other but, at the same time, had reservations about each other. The dichotomy of their minds cost them dear.     Lingering Pain is a story of passion. In it, the situation is entirely different. A married woman wants space for her personality to grow unchecked. She hates to be regarded merely as a body tor sexual gratification. Her mind craves for romantic response to her tender feelings. But her husband's lackluster attitude disappoints her. To her dismay, her romantic attitude to life is exploited by her husband's friend in a disgusting manner. Thereafter, her body slips into the abyss of frustration.     Niranjan Tasneem took up teaching after getting Master's Degree in English literature from Panjab University, Chandigarh. He retired from Government College, Ludhiana as PES (Class I) in the year 1987. He had been Fellow, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla from 1998-99.
