Prologue of the author
"Shadows of War" isn´t just another, for sensation craving book. Despite of the title it describes the adventures one can experience if one is against war. It also contains the statements of nearly all the people I know. The rejoinder to the question: "Why is there something like war?" is always the same lapidary saying: "Because there has always been war!"
Something that has never been called into question can actually exist, although there isn´t any necessity for it. This is aggravated by the fact that we experience war in our environment only on TV. It seems rather like "Hollywood", when people in Afghanistan or Somalia are being killed. It is most striking how these wars are declared by the media. They are talking about enforcement operations against terrorism and about fights initiated by rebels, riots and other descriptions.
Nevertheless they are wars.
The armament industry doesn´t have to complain about falling sales. It is a safe business.
While making inquiries concerning "Shadows of War", it was also flamboyant, that there are certain connections between the enterprises that produce military equipment and the media corporations. That explains to me, why a news channel reports repeatedly about tanks, jet fighters and highly contemporary equipment for soldiers. They don´t mention at all how many human beings will die because of these things.
"Shadows of War" brings up a painful subject, which the people have been suffering from for a long time. We haven´t further developed. We have only managed to kill with higher technical standards.
