In 1946 Alexander Alekhine, the world chess champion, died under somewhat mysterious circumstances. Rumors about murder, cover-up, and possible suspects began to circulate shortly thereafter, and they continue to the present day.
This narrative, of course, is a work of fiction, wherein the author turns the case over to Sherlock Holmes. In this incarnation, the Holmes in question is actually the spry, 92-year-old grandson of Doyle's hero, and he is just as astute as his namesake. Who better than to "solve" the nearly 70-year-old mystery than the master of deductive reasoning himself?
