In Amercian Success, a brined fruit (Pickles) suddenly comes alive and has to struggle for survival and to make sense of his situation. In Vacation, Anwen, emotionally drained after a funeral and a stay with her family, lands on a tropical paradise off the coast of Africa, and has a long-needed rest with unforeseen results. Like sisters in a human family, the six stories in this collection although seemingly incompatible co-exist, bound by a common thread: the struggle for survival, meaning, family, and love; and the uncertainty of the results of all our endeavors.
