George Bowley was born in England just before the start of the World War II. From the age of five he grew up in an orphanage, until at the age of eight when he was sent by ship to Cape Town, South Africa and then by rail to Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia. He was a victim of the British Government?s policy of the persuasive and forced migration of children to the furthest reaches of the Empire. It was thirty years before he returned to England in a search for a family that had been no more than an infant dream. This is his story.
