We remember many things through music. The soundtracks to our lives often keep our memories in check. The artists and albums we admire become interwoven with – and sometimes inseparable from – our existence. The music we enjoy grows up with us, and we can all remember the first songs that caught our attention and first records that we bought.
This is my personal account of how David Bowie’s music became an integral part of my life. It is not a biography (of Bowie nor myself), nor is it a critique of his work, though inevitably I will be looking at my personal favourite albums and how the singer arrived at those points in his career. This is also a story that any other fan will be able to relate to, through a mutual love of the music of the most influential artist of the last fifty years.
