Futurism was heavily influence by the simultaneous cubism movement and the styles appear quite similar. Filippo Tommaso Marinetti was the original founder of the avant-garde Futurism movement. Marinetti was a poet and he published his futurism manifesto in February 1909.
The Futurists loathed the old, the slow and the past. They praised and reveled in youth, violence, speed, and technology. Futurism as an organized movement died out upon the death of its founder Marinetti, but it heavily influenced Art Deco, Vorticism, Constructivism, Surrealism, Dada Artists.
