The Battle of Ten Kings: Dasharajna (Harappa Book 3) (English Edition)

    Por Shankar Kashyap

    Sobre

Sudas is the grandson of the famed emperor Divodasa of Puru tribe. Sudas grows up learning his art of kingship under the tutelage of two great Maharshi’s Vasishta and Vishwamitra. When Sudas ascends the throne at Ila, the center of the world, he undertakes Ashvamedha and occupies the surrounding kingdoms alienating several neighbours. This rekindles the ancient enmity between the Purus and the four main tribes of the region – Yadu, Turvasa, Druhyu and Anu. This enmity goes back to the time of King Yayati, when he had given the Bharata kingdom to the youngest son, Puru and the surrounding lands to the older brothers (Yadu, Turvasa, Druhyu and Anu).
Cayamana, a distant descendant of Anu, declares himself Abhyavartin (ruler of world) and forms a confederacy with nine other kings. There is a misunderstanding between the short tempered Vishwamitra and Vasishta in the court of the now emperor Sudas. Vishwamitra storms out and joins the confederacy of ten kings. They march on Sudas with an enormous army. The battle of Ten kings takes place on the banks of river Parushni (present Ravi). Heavily outnumbered, Sudas seeks the help of Lord Indra. While the army of ten kings is crossing the river, Lord Indra invokes the river to cause a flash flood destroying most of the army.
