The Carlsen-Anand Rematch: The 2014 World Chess Championship (Chess is Fun Book 35) (English Edition)

    Por Jon Edwards

    Sobre

As in my e-book on the 2013 World Chess Championship match, I have annotated all of the games. I have provided explanations of the most important moments, often with move-by-move coverage and with plenty of diagrams to make it possible to review the games without the aid of a chess board. I have added the times used by each player for every move so that readers can better appreciate the players' time management strategies.

Generally speaking, this World Championship match was far better played than last year's contest. Anand defended more accurately, and Carlsen's opening preparation was also on display. There were still mistakes, notably including a double blunder in game 6 that has no parallel in world chess championship history. Had Anand capitalized on Carlsen's error in that game, the final result might well have been different and we would have left having to explain why Carlsen relinquished his chess crown.

Where appropriate, I have included game scores that reflect some of the preparation that the players brought to the games. But I have kept these unannotated examples to the few, most important games. You need not feel obligated to play through them. They are there, rather, to provide a real sense of the work required to compete at this level. Of course, the strongest players will want to review those games.

Unlike many other inexpensive chess e-books, these are fully annotated in understandable, simple language. The profuse use of diagrams make these among the first chess books that you can read WITHOUT A BOARD at your side.
