Tertullian was born in 155 AD and lived in North Africa in the Roman empire. He was a prolific writer in Latin and he was the first to use the term 'Trinity'.
Although Tertullian's writings are considered mainstream, he joined a movement known as Montanist, which was separate from the mainstream church, and as a result was never considered a saint.
