The Consumer Survival Handbook (Reclaim the Right Guides 1) (English Edition)

    Por Marc Gander

    Sobre

With the Consumer Survival Handbook by your side and the support of the thousands of like-minded fellow consumers and small businesses on the CAG forum, you can give yourself the best chance of standing up to the energy companies, the mobile phone providers, retailers, banks, insurance companies, the debt collection agencies, the reclaim companies, secondhand car sellers, cowboy garages, cowboy builders and all the rest who put their own profits before the interests of their own customers.
    You know the type.

It's a consumer Jungle. If you're going to survive and not be ripped off all of the time, you will have to practice your Consumer Tradecraft. The Consumer Action Group has provided free support and advice to millions of UK consumers and small businesses for over 10 years. Now this book attempts to gather into one place many of the stories and experiences and tips and tricks learned over many years. This is an interactive consumer guide and so with one touch or one click you will be taken directly to the relevant government websites or the actual stories on the CAG forum.

Bought a laptop? Bought a used car? Being hassled by an energy company or a mobile phone provider for money that you don't owe?
Had a phone call? Had a "visit"? Had a letter? – Feeling worried?
Not receiving the service that you paid for? Credit file ruined by a company which got it wrong and doesn’t care?
At your wits' end? The Consumer Survival Handbook can help.

This book will help you stand up for yourself and protect your family. Read this book. Come to the Consumer Action Group. We will reassure you and show you the way. The forum is free. You won't have to pay a solicitor and when you're doing it for yourself, you will normally do a much better job. There's nothing more motivating than Grudge, and it's much more satisfying if you succeed.

The information in this book is presented clearly and informally in ordinary English – no-frills. It contains some law – but the minimum that you need to get by. The Survival Handbook is mainly about technique and salutory experiences. Links to the Consumer Action Group forums take you directly to where you need to be to get further explanations – and of course once you're on the forum, you can ask any question you want about anything you don't understand and there will be lots of people just like you who will be pleased to give you answers and make suggestions as to your next step. And it's all free – no strings.
You can think of The Consumer Action Group as your National Consumer Service but it has become extremely large. This survival book of consumer tradecraft sets out the basic rules and the basic stumbling blocks in one place to give you a head start so that when you visit the Forum or if you decide to go it alone, you already have a good idea of where you are headed and what to do.

Although the law in this Survival Handbook is UK law, and although any court procedure is mainly that of England and Wales, the practical advice and the pitfalls that you are likely to meet as an ordinary consumer are the same as are faced by consumers and small businesses all over the world. Throughout the UK and even if you are in the USA, Australia, Canada, India or anywhere else in the world – this book with its techniques and practical advice will be relevant to you.

If you think that we've left some topics out, then - sorry. The range of consumer problems and consumer experiences is so vast that it simply hasn't been possible to include everything. That would take an encyclopaedia. However, if you come to the Consumer Action Group forum, it's all there.

This digital book will work on any Amazon device or other Android or Apple tablet or smartphone or computer which has a free Kindle app installed. You can read this book perfectly well on an Amazon E-ink device although the interactive hyperlinking will not work as well as it will with ordinary tablets or other Amazon devices.
