The Contributions of Qualitative Research to the Grand Challenges of Social Work (English Edition)

Social work is dedicated to promoting the social good. In May of 2016, social workers who do qualitative research gathered to consider their contributions to the grand challenges that the Academy of Social Work Researchers has proposed. This article reports on what we have to offer. Basic principles of qualitative research, such as understanding experiences in context and multiple perspectives, are particularly relevant, as are qualitative research’s emphasis on inclusion, multiple perspectives, and researcher self-understanding.
