Five boys are investigating a known haunted house, Macadamia Mansion, in hopes that perhaps Mikey’s grandfather would use it for his Halloween Mystery Weekend. They briefly gain an audience with the skeptical Master Luong Hu, who is dismissive but agrees to use the mansion if they are able to demonstrate that it is truly haunted.
Macadamia Mansion is the former home of movie actor Reese Randolph, who has died in a possibly suicidal car accident that occurred as his career was on the verge of collapse. Mr. Randolph had pledged to haunt his former home to keep anyone else from living there. During their investigations, the boys find very scary and seemingly real activities going on in the abandoned structure, such as the Shroud of Fear and the King’s Ghost.
