There is no extra-biblical evidence to the existence of King Solomon at any time and it is, therefore, difficult to accept that he wrote the book of Ecclesiastes.
"I, Qoheleth, was king over Israel in Jerusalem". A king is appointed for life. Kingship is terminated only through death – or deposition. According to the biblical text Solomon was not deposed nor did he resign. From the word "was" in past tense it can be understood that Ecclesiastes was written by the king of Jerusalem after he was deposed.
Then who is, therefore, that king of Israel in Jerusalem who was dethroned and found enough time to write about the glorious days of Jerusalem as well as to inlay them with words of wisdom?
The Deposed King Who Wrote the Book of Ecclesiastes tells the story of one priestly family who was deposed some 2,300 years ago from its high post at the temple in Jerusalem, gave the world a beautiful piece of literature and laid the foundation of Christianity.
The plot takes place mostly in Jerusalem. It reveals the identity of the author of Ecclesiastes and the place of his burial, the origin of the mysterious sect of the Essenes and their contribution to Christianity.
