The puzzling single-car crash of muckraking journalist Micah J. Hunter left behind a swirl of rumors and intriguing clues about a secret journal that plunges his best friend Jack McGinnis into a sinister realm of clandestine agencies and indications of a faceless assassin involved in Micah’s death. Micah contacted Jack because he suspected that someone tampered with his car and Jack once worked for the SCI unit of NHTSA. Believing that his friend suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, Jack refused to help but instead sent a data storage tracker that Micah installed on his car. Shortly after receiving the device back from his friend, Micah died in the Florida Keys. Cash-strapped after a bitter divorce and battling alcoholism, Jack sells his most prized possession—a 1961 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport—to his ex-wife who insists on accompanying him. Despite a vengeful distaste for Liliana, he reluctantly agrees, thus beginning a quest to unravel a puzzle that pushes Jack and Liliana into a fathomless enigma and shadowy strangers who would stop at nothing to obtain Micah Hunter’s journal.
