This six-volume history of the campaign in France and Flanders was written and published during and after the First World War and depicts all the major battles of the British army. It is worth noting that Conan Doyle both interviewed ordinary soldiers and got Haig and fourteen other generals to give him access to their diaries and papers, allowing him to create a full and informed overview of the Great War.
