Two men, through debauchery having totally exhausted the wholesome joys of life, resort to the thrill of grave robbing and create a secret lair of perversity where “Niches here and there contained skulls of all shapes, and heads preserved in various stages of dissolution…the rotting, bald pates of famous noblemen, and the fresh and radiantly golden heads of new-buried children…A locked portfolio, bound in tanned human skin”. Desiring, the greatest conquest of all, they go after their ultimate prize, an artifact from the remains of a legendary, evil witch — a practitioner of malignant necromancy and grave robbery — who’d died five hundred years earlier, inadvertently reanimating him, along with his malevolent Hell hound, who, together, want only two things from them their lives.
