This study evaluates the views of Dr. David VanDrunen and others who promote natural law theory and the doctrine of the two kingdoms among Reformed Christians. It provides an analysis of that position and makes an appraisal of it in the light of Scripture, the Reformed Confessions, and the history of Reformed theological ethics. While not disagreeing with everything in the two kingdom proposal, it finds the position to be more in line with Roman Catholic and Lutheran teaching than with the uniqueness of biblical Reformed thought. It concludes with a statement of affirmations and denials which set forth a positive view of Christianity and culture.
