John Barrin (late of Scotland Yard) and Kate Marsh (amateur detective and busybody) are approached by their friend Aldo Castro (noted Italian composer), who fears that his cousin Andreas is conspiring to drive his own wife insane, and thus secure her inheritance – not to mention the freedom to continue his extra-marital affairs. Kate and John journey to the Castros’ home on England’s south-west coast to investigate. Aided by Min Ling (ex-criminal and aspiring landscape gardener) and Kate’s husband Tony (along for the fishing) they soon discover that Aldo’s fears are far from unfounded. Together, the motley group set out to prove Andreas’s guilt and save Mrs. Castro from a fate worse than death – before it is too late…
