    This is the twenty-first volume in the complete proceedings of the Nuremberg trial of the German major war criminals before the International Military Tribunal sitting at Nuremberg, Germany.
    Taken from the original court transcript this volume covers the proceedings from 9th to 21st August, 1946 and represents an essential primary source for scholars and general readers alike. The transcripts are complete and contain the whole of the proceedings as taken from the original court documents.
    This volume includes the submission of documents on the SS and the Gestapo by both the Prosecution and Defence, and begins the case for the SA, in particular the voluntary character of SA service, its assignments including the guarding of Prisoners of War and concentration camps.
    It also begins the case for the General Staff and High Command of the German Armed Forces and includes oral evidence by Field-Marshal von Brauchitsch, Field-Marshal von Manstein and Field-Marshal von Rundstedt on the military leadership and the concept of "group"; the attitude of the military leaders to politics and Nazi doctrines; the planning of aggression and the rearmament of Germany; the Eastern campaign and its "ideological" nature and warfare methods;  the treatment of Prisoners of War, in particular the Commissar and Commando Order; partisan warfare and the putsch against Hitler.
    Goering is also re-examined regarding his denial of any knowledge of experiments on concentration camp inmates and the preparations for bacteriological warfare.
