This is the parallel English / Greek text of Plato's Republic. The English translation is done by Paul Shorey and the introduction is provided by Ernest Barker.
The Republic is a Socratic dialogue, composed by Plato about 380 BC, concerning what justice is and the order and character of a just city-state. The dialogue has proven to be one of the world's most influential texts on philosophy and political theory. The debaters in the book also discuss the theory of forms, the immortality of the soul, and the role of philosophers and poets in society.
