    In general De vita Caesarum (The Twelve Caesars), is a collection of twelve biographies of Julius Caesar and the first eleven emperors of the Roman Empire. It was written by Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus in AD 121 during the reign of the emperor Hadrian, and is the most popular work of Suetonius. He was at that time Hadrian's personal secretary.

    The Twelve Caesars is considered a significant, primary source on Roman history.
