Summary of the book “The Right Hand of Creation”
Chapter 1. The Creation
The debate between science stating that the universe is 12 billion years old and the Christian church stating that it took only 6 days for creation is dealt with in this chapter. Einstein's special theory of relativity is used to show how both points of view are correct.
Chapter 2. Maybe I Should Have Been a Poet
Biblical stiles of poetry are explained in order to show the proper method to read the first chapter of Genesis. Examples are provided to show that Genesis chapter 1 is written as a complex restatement type poem in the same stile as is seen in Psalm 23.
Chapter 3. In The Beginning God
This chapter explains the first two verses of the creation account, showing that they say exactly the same thing as the "big bang" theory of modern physics.
Chapter 4. God said "Let there be light" And then, There was a Bang.
Chapter 4 explains the first event of creation, the period the Bible calls day 1. This chapter shows that there is a 100% agreement between the Bible account and the first 2 seconds of the "big bang" theory.
Chapter 5. The Stars Sang that Day
This chapter explains the second event of creation, day 4 of Genesis 1. As the matter of the universe expanded it cooled and lumped together to form stars, galaxies, clusters and so forth.
Chapter 6. The Blue and White Jewel Called Earth
After stars had condensed out of gases, which were made by the big bang, these stars converted hydrogen and helium into heavier elements. From these elements more stars formed and with them planetary systems. In this chapter we see the surface of the earth formed. A great sea covers the earth.
Chapter 7. The Seas Give Birth to Life
In the fourth period God speaks and the oceans are filled with life. Science agrees that shortly after liquid water was upon the surface of the earth that the water was filled with life, in much to short of time for gradual evolution to be said to be the source.
Chapter 8. The End of Shallow Seas and the Beginning of Dry Land
In the fifth period the plates of the crust collide, pushing some upward. Land that for billions of years was covered with water becomes exposed dry land. In this period God says the waters were separated creating dry land.
Chapter 9. The Dry Land Brings forth Life
Hidden in labs for most of the 20th century was the knowledge that at the beginning of the period called Jurassic there was a sudden explosion in the number of kinds of life forms. This sudden explosion of life was kept guarded because it testified against gradual evolution and suggested creation. This is what we find in the Bible for this period of creation.
Chapter 10. God Rests, for a While
Then the Bible concludes the creation poem with the statement that God rests from His creation. This chapter covers a few topics that will be required when looking at Genesis chapters 2 and 3, such as who is the Serpent of Eden and the battle between good and evil.
Chapter 11. A Restatement
This is a very short chapter which simply makes the statement that the second creation account found in chapters 2 and 3 of Genesis is a restatement of the first creation account of Genesis. And as a restatement it is an expansion of the creation account.
Chapter 12. The Period before Plants and Man
The restatement of creation begins with a lifeless earth, with a cooling crust. Water vapor is being released from hot rock into the primitive atmosphere of a new planet. This is the second day of Genesis chapter 1. Again this account is shown to be in total harmony with the theories of modern science.
Chapter 13. God's Garden
This chapter begins with events of day 3 of Genesis chapter 1, the separation of the waters to expose dry land and the sudden appearance of plant life. Then the Genesis chapter 2 account shifts to a poetic symbol of the trees of “Life” and “Knowledge of Good and Evil.” These symbols are explained.
