    Sobre

Born out of a deep desire to simplify and distribute academic excellence principles, The Secrets of Best Graduating Students is a collection of all the principles, techniques and practices that insured academic excellence for Obinna and ten other best graduating and first class students. These secrets are producing positive results in the lives of those who are privy to them. More importantly, this book is a surefire good read!

This volume begins with a paradigm shifting question, 'Do I need a first class?'. It then looks briefly into how to compute GPA and how to ensure that your GPA does not drop below the first class benchmark. It thereafter proceeds to an investigation into why students fail in chapter one. This chapter titled Identify the Academic Problem, helps you recognise background experiences that limit a student's academic performance. As part of the solution steps, you'll learn how to sustain motivation, setting your academic goals and making them SMART goals, coping with the problem of wrong choice of course etc.

The second chapter concentrates on organising your time. It first shows you what you can do in developing your interest. From this section, you'll learn methods, tips, and hints on how to build or develop your interest in your studies/academics. And somewhere in the middle, the chapter shows you how to proritize courses or subjects and how to use this to make an effective academic timetable.

Chapter three attends to studying effectively. Questions like: What is studying, how to study effectively, tips for effective study, how to cope with a difficult course, the SQ3R approach to effective study etc are the things you'll get exposed to. Other tricks for getting more out of your study session such as exercise, employing technology and many more are treated as well.

Listening to learn is the crux of chapter four. The chapter first looks into hearing vs listening. It then shows you how to take care of the hindrances to effective listening, including how to overcome day-dreaming, tiredness, hunger during a class. It also shares tips on how to manage to concentrate in a noisy class. Learning can still go on amidst noise if you keenly strive to take notes in class.

The all-important activity - preparing for exam - takes the whole of chapter five. In it, you'll learn ample tips on how to prepare for exams. You sure want to make A's in the examinations; don't you? Starting from the pre-semester holidays, there are lots and lots to learn about making the most of your exams.

Unlike what you might think, how to handle lecturers is equally important to your success. In chapter six, you'll learn how to manage lecturers. You'll also learn some special insights on how to cope with difficult lecturers. Some questions students often ask are: should I buy the lecturer's handout?; are there penalties for not buying a lecturer's handout? These questions and more are implicitly addressed in chapter six.

“I wish I had discovered the treasures in this book a long time ago. The principles therein are practical and are as real as death - I saw them work for some of the contributors to this work. I would like to add that the style of presentation can only be described by this: one-of-a-kind.”

“This is not just a book, but also a manual written with the pen of inspiration for those who’ve desperately decided to be wiser than failure, whose hands are ready to pitch their own tent around the pillar of great success.”

“I must say, this book is quite interesting and somewhat comical – in a good way. The foreword written by your HOD is super hilarious. The ideas embedded in the book are super true. Me likey! Kudos man, kudos...”
