Written in blood, blossoming with love, laced with wisdom, brimming with laughter, it’s The Undercover Shrinks and other Oddities! Featuring a tragicomic novella about madcap government conspiracy, love, mental illness, and religion, along with several short pieces, some experimental, that are all sure to crack you up and make you think! The book presents a lighthearted take on religion, without sugarcoating things. It's a little blasphemous, but it makes for an enjoyable, inspiring read for people who are on the fence about religion and wonder if belief is still possible in modern times.
In the novella, a secret government agency spies on the mental health of citizens and intervenes in ludicrous ways. When the main characters suspect corruption and mismanagement, they go on a meandering mission to make things right. The short stories are about an unorthodox but implausibly effective Middle East peace conference and an eccentric girl's mission to stop a grave sin, vaping. I also included a story about a wild experience I had in China that seemed like a religious experience. The stories are loosely about mental illness and religion, two topics that overlap in many ways.
This book was written rapidly during a painful hypomanic episode during which I thought I was having an intense religious experience, hence the disjointed nature of the stories. It is the most lucid crazy thing you will ever read. Step inside the mind of a maniac.
I make the book free as often as Amazon lets me. Please leave a review.
