GERMANY’S FIRST RAILROAD EXHIBITION BY MARKLIN AT ALL
This model railway layout is called “Deutschland Express” (“Germany Express”) and it was opened in the late 1990's in the Ruhr Area in Germany. It was one of the first railroad exhibition at all. At that time the “Germany Express” was the largest model railway in the world with almost 700 square meters of exhibition space.
Located in the city of Gelsenkirchen, it is today still one of the largest layout by Marklin. The model train layout presents a journey from the North Sea to the Alps with many stations, three roundhouses, a coal mine, the Rhine river, etc. The Alps are modeled with up to three meters high mountains, and there are numerous bridges and viaducts in HO scale. On the whole model railway layout are 200 computer-controlled trains with more than 3,000 passengers coaches and freight cars. There are 4,100 m tracks and 12,000 miniature figures.
