NICK WESTMORE was born on the Isle of Wight, UK, where he grew up in the picturesque village of Godshill. He served an engineering apprenticeship following which he later moved into the Oil and Gas industry as a project planning engineer.
And so started a career which eventually took him on contract assignments overseas. This book tells of his expatriate experiences and of the characters he worked with along the way. To honour them he created the name "True Expat" which entitled them to be elevated to a Hall of Fame.
But who is your True Expat?
He's a guy who tells exaggerated and risqué stories. He can be the epitome of goodness and light, nigh on celibate, practically tee-total, and given to helping old ladies across the road. That's what he will have you believe. Most of all he's invariably a likeable guy and not easily forgotten. I hope you enjoy meeting him.
This book takes you on a journey. To offshore oil and gas platforms. To desert construction sites. To home office shenanigans in an engineering design department. But it doesn't end there.
You'll also be taken on Nick's global travels and hear of the folks he met along the way. Be it Melbourne or Rio, Chittagong or Tokyo. And let's not forget the time he met Bridget Bardot - much to the envy of his friends. Mind you he admits he has used some licence in his stories, but isn't that what you would expect of a True Expat!
