    VEILED ARCHES (English Edition)

    Por Andreas Solomos

    Sobre

The saga unfolds in a Mediterranean environment abounding with legend, mystery, history, archaeology, sun, romance, and strife: Pafos, Cyprus - the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite.
November 11, 2001. Jason Mustafa returns, after 14 years in Canada, to his hometown, determined to find his missing brother Richard. Jason is forced to deal with his estranged but now ailing father, Faris, a shrewd Saudi businessman.
Meanwhile, Richard's wife, Marianna, resumes her affair with her former lover, Maximus - a man old enough to be her father and who just happens to be the abbot of a nearby monastery!
While searching for his brother, Jason encounters numerous obstacles. Faris doesn't want him to get involved. Mariana's sister, Katerina, wants to take control of the Persinaras-Mustafa consortium. A Saudi banker finances a deal in which an American arms dealer sells his weaponry but does not get paid. Millions of dollars change hands and disappear in a complex web of secret agreements, involving many, even the Taliban in war-torn Afghanistan.
Intrigue may be found anywhere, as craving and conniving characters walk through the arches, both ancient and modern, on the same landscape where the earliest inhabitants celebrated the coming of the spring with orgiastic rituals in honour of Aphrodite and Dionysus.
The novel offers several sub messages; but there is only one main proposition: Malevolent deeds will eventually boomerang on the persons who had caused them.
Wine, food, music, dance, sex, money, power, determination, intrigue, manipulation, deception, ignorance, strife, fear, betrayal, altruism and friction interlock to produce a Modern Greek Tragedy.
Veiled Arches symbolizes the beginning, the middle and the end of our journeys and the dazzling discords we all must face in our modern lives, whether by choice or by some combination of circumstances, coincidence and fate.
