The assumptions that many liberal Americans including leading Democrats in Congress have for Hillary Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump in the November 2016 Presidential election are wrong.
Liberals should not be hung up on the idea that the e-mail hacking scandal and the announcements by the F.B. I. into Clinton’s use of a private server cost her the election. Even if they were factors, it was very minor. And it is not enough to say that people who voted for Trump are racists. It appears that quite a number of Americans who supported Trump had voted for President Obama and probably twice. One cannot deny that economic anxiety played an important role in the outcome of the Presidential election; however; the exit polls have confirmed that the people who voted for Trump did not list the economy as their biggest concern! If these were not the major reasons for her loss, what were they?
