A 900-page collection of photographs of Native Americans who lived west of the Mississippi River in the first decades following the dawn of photography. Most of the more than 1,000 photographs date from the 1850's-1910. The process of taking photographs in the wild in the 19th-century was complex and time-consuming process. Even dangerous. Photographers mostly transported their cameras and supplies, and themselves, in covered wagons, improvised darkrooms, and learned to use processing chemicals in difficult conditions.This collection contains some nudity, so it may not be appropriate for children. The photographs are best viewed on a full size PC/tablet screen.
