Voodoo Charlie is the third book in the Southern Series trilogy. It is set in Kilmichael, French Camp, and Natchez, Mississippi, and New Orleans, Louisiana, in the 1880s. Charlie Lynch, Jane's baby whose father is Marie Laveau's husband Huereta, is kidnapped by Marie Laveau. She takes him back to New Orleans and teaches him to become a voodoo priest and follow in her footsteps. Laveau also steals the Confederate gold that Jane stole while hiding in the tunnel. It is cursed and everyone who comes into possession of it has bad luck. Jane Lynch, Marie Laveau, and Charlie will not be an exception.
