They desire nothing, but there is occasionally a fleeting desire: children, drugs, whatever pays cash. But the real paydays are in spying. The ruling elite pay a suppressed population to spy on each other. The signature on those checks are always from the Paramount.Wanting nothing else, the Paramount risk redistributing their personal wealth to the suppressed masses of the planet all for sake of love. The surviving population of Earth is distrustful - generations have risen and passed under the omnipotent totalitarianism of the rich. So scouts are sent to investigate a critical concern. The Paramount say their killing machines no longer exist. The helpless poor want that confirmed before they decide they are thankful for a generous gift. Normal citizens are paid to trespass and find a horrible Warachnid from the tall tales of nightmares.
