Winter Tree ID: Deciduous Trees: Identifying common deciduous trees in winter in the UK (Botany Basics Book 2) (English Edition)

    Por Rachel The Gardener

    Sobre

Do you look at trees without their leaves on, and wonder what the heck they are, and how on earth people tell the difference?

Are you massively impressed when someone states airily “...beside that Acer campestre over there..” while pointing to a bare skeleton, which looks just like all the others around it?

Do you want to be the one who knows the names of all the trees, but don't know where to start?

Are you terrified at the prospect of all those Latin names, and all that complicated jargon?

This is the book for you: written specifically (on request) for everyone who wants to start right at the beginning with no foreknowledge of the subject at all. Even if you are already pretty good at identifying trees in summer, winter is a whole new experience, and this book assumes that you don't know anything about trees - so bear with me for the first couple of sections, while everyone else catches up with you.

We start gently with a short explanation of botanical naming: we run through the small amount of equipment you will require, and what reference books might be useful, and then we gallop on and get straight into the various Broadleaved or Deciduous trees that you are likely to meet while out and about in the UK.

    "Simplified, but not dumbed down."

“I am never disappointed with Rachel's friendly, chatty style.”

“I've really struggled with dichotomous keys, so I was thrilled to find this, slightly different, approach.”

“My e-book (not a Kindle) didn't display some of the Tables very clearly, but when I emailed the author, they immediately sent me the originals, which was really helpful.”
