While You Can't Force Success is primarily written for parents preparing to send their kids to college, it is also useful for students. Unlike other college prep books, Mr. Dalton discusses the pitfalls of the approach many families typically pursue (Parents pay the majority of expenses and hope for the best). His approach may have you spending less money than you'd planned. Instead, his proven approach instructs parents how to systematically transfer much of the responsibility (including financial responsibility) to their very capable young adult children. These techniques have guided students to complete challenging study programs on time with little or no debt. The goal is for students to complete college with a career track job, armed with the skills necessary to quickly advance and succeed on their own.
Along the way, students learn and practice critical life skills such as living within a budget, time management, networking and other important habits. The book is filled with examples of some who did it wrong, some who did very well,, and why they may have succeeded or failed. You owe it to yourself and your college bound family to read this very informative book. If you only implement one or two ideas, it will be money well spent.
