Brazil and natural gas in South America: A study on energy integration in South America during the 1990s (English Edition)

South America although it has been the scene of major energy integration projects from the late 1960s until 1990, historically prioritized its integration through trade agreements, without tormenting with the expansion of infrastructure for regional energy transmission (GUIMARAES, 2008, p. 54). However, in the sphere of bilateral negotiations, it is possible to observe that the energy integration has been carried out, even without the decisive participation of regional integration organizations, since the late 1960. Brazil, in particular, has invested heavily in this integration sector, having carried out a large number of bilateral initiatives with other states in the region.
