Stanislaw Andriuskevicius a disgraced member of the noble Andruszkiewicz family of Poland forced to change the spelling of his last name from Polish to Lithuanian for his part in the Radziwill Rebellion. The Radziwill Rebellion sided with the King of Sweden’s invasion against the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Radziwill intended to become the new king of Poland. When his forces were defeated Stanislaw was and several other of his family were in the battle of Tykocin Castle. He was the only member to survive and the family loyal to the crown could not kill another of their own family. So, they exiled him from the family and ordered his name to be changed. This order was placed in every church and cathedral in the Commonwealth. Everyone learned of his betrayal. This left Stanislaw with few prospects and no friends found himself offering his services as a commander to the Duke of Courland.
