Purpose: Audio-Digest Foundation CME/CE activities are designed to provide its learners – physicians and other healthcare professionals – with continuing education that will help identify clinical problems in their practice settings, provide content to help to solve those problems, and increase their application of knowledge to practice.

Educational Objectives
The goals of this program are to improve the recognition and treatment of substance abuse in older adults and to improve the adaptation of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques to older populations. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Define problematic substance use in older adults.
2. Reduce barriers to psychiatric treatment faced by geriatric populations.
3. Perform brief in-office interviewing that can assess and treat alcohol abuse.
4. Apply principles of CBT to improve the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders.
5. Reformulate psychotherapy and CBT strategies to improve responses among older adults.
